Madhuri Dixit Returns to Screen with Thriller ‘Mrs. Deshpande’, Chooses Projects Carefully
Actress Madhuri Dixit is set to make her much-awaited return to the screen with the thriller series “Mrs. Deshpande”, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The actress, known for her iconic performances, revealed that she now chooses projects selectively, focusing only on roles and scripts that excite her.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Madhuri explained her absence from the screen in recent years. “I want to do roles that are exciting. I want to work on characters that make me wake up every morning saying, ‘Hey, I am going to work on this project,’” she said. She emphasized the importance of strong writing, direction, and teamwork in creating a successful project. “The character has to be well-written, and the director, writers, and producers all have to come together to do justice to the story. That’s what I look for now,” Madhuri added.
In “Mrs. Deshpande”, Madhuri will portray a chilling character—a serial killer—in a series based on the French thriller “La Mante”. The show is produced by Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Kukunoor Movies.
Director Nagesh Kukunoor said, “Mrs. Deshpande has been a truly fascinating journey. While working on the script, I saw only Madhuri in the title role. Having her portray this complex character has been an absolute joy.”
