Ranveer Singh Issues Apology Following Kantara Mimicry Backlash

Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh has issued a public apology after facing massive backlash for mimicking Rishab Shetty’s Daiva from Kantara Chapter 1 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025. During the event, Ranveer recreated the sequence where Rishab’s character is possessed by the Chamundi Daiva, which led to criticism from fans and cultural groups.

Following the act, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) lodged an official complaint, alleging that the performance hurt religious sentiments. Responding to the controversy, Ranveer expressed regret, clarifying that his intention was never to offend anyone and that he simply wanted to appreciate Rishab Shetty’s exceptional performance in the film.
