Several farmers’ associations have voiced their concerns regarding the government’s newly introduced tractor emission norms, arguing that the regulations could increase production costs and place additional financial burdens on the agricultural community. They claimed that upgrading to engines meeting the new standards would make tractors more expensive, thereby affecting small and marginal farmers who are already struggling with rising input costs and fluctuating crop prices.
Farmer leaders have urged the government to reconsider the timeline for implementing these emission standards or to provide subsidies to offset the costs. They emphasized that while reducing pollution is important, any environmental regulation should also take into account the economic realities of rural India. The groups have requested a balanced approach that promotes both environmental sustainability and the financial stability of farmers.
