Indian Navy Commissions Advanced Survey Ship ‘INS Ikshak’

The Indian Navy has officially commissioned INS Ikshak, a state-of-the-art survey vessel designed to enhance the nation’s maritime capabilities. Built with advanced navigation and mapping technologies, the ship will play a crucial role in hydrographic surveying, ocean mapping, and supporting naval operations. The addition of INS Ikshak marks another step in strengthening India’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

Constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) with significant contributions from Indian industries, the vessel reflects the growing expertise of the country’s shipbuilding sector. INS Ikshak also includes modern facilities and improved accommodation standards, promoting inclusivity with space for women officers. Its commissioning highlights India’s continued focus on technological advancement and maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region.
