Protesters Detained in Delhi Amid Escalating Air Pollution Crisis

In New Delhi, over a dozen protesters were detained at India Gate during a rare public demonstration against worsening air pollution. The protest came as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) soared to around 345, placing it in the “very poor” category and prompting widespread health concerns among residents.

The demonstrators called for stronger government action to curb emissions, implement stricter vehicle regulations, and expand green zones. Authorities have since increased monitoring and restricted construction and industrial activities in several parts of the city. Environmental experts warn that unless immediate steps are taken, Delhi may continue facing hazardous air quality through the winter months.
