VSP capacity utilisation rose significantly in one year: CM

In a recent review meeting, CM Naidu said that Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP)’s capacity utilization has seen a sharp rise over the past year. In September 2024, the plant was using only about 25% of its capacity; by September 2025, that had jumped to 79%. This significant improvement is being attributed to a combination of measures: strong support and financial aid from the Central Government (including a revival package of ₹11,440 crore), cooperation from the State Government, and enhanced coordination among the plant management, staff, and workers.

Looking ahead, the CM has set a goal of pushing utilization even higher—aiming for 92.5% capacity usage by the end of the third quarter.  He emphasized that continued cooperation among all stakeholders will be essential, with regular reviews (monthly at the chief secretary level, and quarterly at higher levels) to monitor progress, address bottlenecks, and ensure that the plant moves out of losses and back toward strong performance.
