Amazon has announced plans to hire 100,000 new full- and part-time employees across the U.S. and Canada. These positions will support the company's fulfillment centers and delivery network, aiming to meet the growing demand for its services. The hiring initiative reflects Amazon's ongoing efforts to expand its workforce to better serve customers.
In addition to the new hires, Amazon is investing over $1 billion to increase wages and reduce healthcare costs for its U.S. fulfillment and transportation employees. The average hourly wage will rise to over $23, with tenured employees receiving increases between $1.10 and $1.90 per hour. Starting next year, the company will also significantly lower the cost of its basic healthcare plan to $5 per week and reduce co-pays to $5, leading to a 34% drop in weekly contributions and an 87% cut in co-pays for services like primary care and mental health.
