Government Launches ₹10,000 Cr Infra Fund

The Indian government has launched a ₹10,000 crore Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) to enhance urban infrastructure in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This initiative, announced in the 2023-24 Union Budget, is managed by the National Housing Bank (NHB) and aims to address the growing infrastructure needs of smaller urban areas.

The UIDF is designed to support public agencies in developing essential infrastructure such as water supply, sewage systems, solid waste management, and urban transportation. By focusing on these areas, the fund seeks to improve the quality of life for residents in these cities and promote balanced urban development across the country.

This move aligns with the government's broader vision to decentralize urban development and ensure that smaller cities receive the necessary resources to foster sustainable growth. The establishment of the UIDF underscores the commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and promoting equitable development across all regions.
