Lok Sabha conducted its Question Hour without any disruptions on Wednesday, marking the first smooth day of the ongoing Winter Session after resolving the standoff over the opposition’s demand for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Earlier, a meeting chaired by Speaker Om Birla decided that the House would debate the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram on Monday and election reforms on Tuesday. The day began with obituaries for former members who recently passed away, followed by the uninterrupted Question Hour.
Since the session began on Monday, proceedings had been repeatedly disrupted by opposition members demanding a discussion on the SIR exercise in nine states and three Union Territories.
