The Hyderabad Police announced plans to expand its drone fleet, adopt artificial intelligence (AI) policing for crime prediction, integrate CCTV systems, and implement smart traffic management solutions to enhance safety and efficiency across the city.
Speaking at the annual round-up meet, Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar said more drones will be added to the IT wing drone unit and deployed for field-level surveillance, aiding in quicker crime detection and response. The force will also increase the use of body-worn cameras, digital case management, and comprehensive CCTV integration.
Sajjanar highlighted the adoption of AI technologies for crime prediction, hotspot mapping, facial recognition, and data-driven deployment, aiming to shift from reactive to anticipatory policing.
The police are also strengthening disaster preparedness, including responses to floods, fires, public health emergencies, and major events through mock drills and inter-agency coordination.
On traffic management, Hyderabad police plan to introduce AI-enabled signal systems, e-challan enforcement, and integration with urban planning to reduce congestion and improve road safety.
