In a shocking incident in Hyderabad’s Nallakunta area, a man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by setting her on fire, reportedly over suspicions of infidelity. The brutal crime took place on December 24 at the couple’s residence and occurred in the presence of their children.
According to police, the accused, Venkatesh, a native of Huzurabad in Nalgonda district, got into a heated argument with his wife, Triveni. During the quarrel, he allegedly assaulted her, poured petrol on her, and set her ablaze. When their daughter attempted to intervene, the accused reportedly pushed her into the flames, causing minor burn injuries.
Hearing the victim’s screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted Triveni and her injured daughter to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared Triveni dead on arrival, while the daughter survived with minor injuries.
Police said the couple had a love marriage and have two children. Venkatesh had allegedly been harassing Triveni frequently due to his suspicions, leading to repeated disputes. Unable to bear the harassment, Triveni had earlier gone to her parents’ house. However, the accused later convinced her to return, promising to change his behaviour.
Tragically, within days of her return, the murder occurred. After fleeing the scene, Venkatesh was arrested by Nallakunta police within 12 hours. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
