Panchayat Poll Verdict Reflects Public Anger Against Congress: KTR

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday said the results of the first and second phases of the panchayat elections have sent a clear message that the Congress government is rapidly losing public trust across rural Telangana.

KTR said the Congress party’s poor performance in elections held without party symbols reflected deep-rooted dissatisfaction among villagers over the ruling party’s two-year governance. He warned that the Congress could face even bigger defeats in upcoming local body elections.

“If this is the fate of the Congress in non-party elections, its defeat in the MPTC and ZPTC polls conducted with party symbols will be far more humiliating,” KTR said, describing the verdict as a slap in the face of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Reacting to the election outcome on social media platform X, KTR pointed out that Congress-backed candidates lost even in constituencies represented by its Ministers and MLAs, which, he said, clearly indicated shifting political winds in the State.

He accused the Congress government of administrative failure and of betraying public trust by failing to implement 420 promises, including the much-publicised six guarantees, calling them a growing liability for the ruling party.

Recalling that the BRS had swept panchayat elections during its tenure, KTR said the Congress’s inability to secure even half of the panchayats highlighted mounting public anger in rural areas.

Congratulating BRS cadres on their performance in the first and second phases of the elections, he thanked the people of Telangana for supporting the party’s fight against what he termed the Congress government’s “atrocities, corruption and failures.”

KTR assured party workers of continued support, vowing that the BRS would protect its cadre and promising a bright political future for those working in the service of the people.
